How to Create a Website in Under 12 Minutes Using ChatGPT’s New Sites

Key Takeaways

  • ChatGPT Sites allows you to create a website without being a designer, programmer or website developer.

  • You describe the website you want, and ChatGPT creates the copy, design, layout and functionality for you.

  • You can provide an existing website as a reference or upload your business information, images, logo and files.

  • You can edit the website simply by telling ChatGPT what you would like changed.

  • You can include forms and hosted videos, such as YouTube videos.

  • There is no simple plug-and-play CRM connection at present, although more advanced custom integrations may be possible.

  • The website created in this tutorial is one long page rather than a traditional website with multiple individual pages.

  • The technical controls required for properly optimising a website for SEO, GEO and AIO are not currently available.

  • ChatGPT Sites is best suited to simple websites, microsites, prototypes, reports, events and testing new ideas.

  • If your tourism business currently has no website at all, a simple ChatGPT Site could still be considerably better than having no independent web presence.

ChatGPT has launched a new feature called Sites, which allows you to create a working website in minutes simply by describing what you want.

No coding. No dragging and dropping endless website blocks. No trying to work out where your heading, photograph or contact form should go.

You give ChatGPT a detailed brief, and it creates the website for you.

I tested it by asking ChatGPT to create a completely new personal-brand website for me, using my existing AI Marketing Club website as the primary information source.

The result was created in under 12 minutes.

It wrote the copy, created the layout, followed my brand direction and produced a professional-looking website that I could continue editing simply by talking to ChatGPT.

You can view the ChatGPT Site created for Victoria Ludemann here.

There are some important limitations, particularly around multiple pages, CRM integrations and optimisation for SEO, GEO and AIO. I’ll take you through those honestly as well.

However, for small tourism and hospitality businesses that currently rely entirely on Facebook, Instagram, Airbnb or Booking.com, this could be a very cost-effective way to establish an initial web presence.

Something is better than nothing.

This is a practical walkthrough designed to help you create a simple website or microsite without needing to be a designer or programmer.

Why This Matters

There are still many small businesses throughout New Zealand, Australia and Africa that do not have their own websites.

Instead, they rely entirely on platforms such as:

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Airbnb

  • Booking.com

  • Google Business Profile

  • Other social media or third-party booking platforms

The problem is that you do not own or fully control those platforms.

Algorithms change. Accounts can be restricted. Visibility can drop. Commission structures can change. The platform controls how your business information is presented and how customers interact with you.

A website gives your business a place where people can learn about you outside those third-party platforms.

Traditionally, creating a website required you to:

  • Hire a designer or developer

  • Learn how to use a website builder

  • Write all the copy

  • Choose the layout

  • Source the images

  • Set up the hosting

  • Build each section or page

  • Continue maintaining everything yourself

ChatGPT Sites removes much of that initial technical work.

It is not yet a replacement for a properly planned, multi-page and fully optimised tourism website. However, if you currently have no website at all, it gives you a way to create something professional-looking and useful very quickly.

What Is ChatGPT Sites?

ChatGPT Sites is a website and lightweight app builder inside ChatGPT.

You describe what you want to create, provide the relevant information and allow ChatGPT to generate the design, written content and functionality.

You can then:

  • Preview the website

  • Request changes

  • Add files and images

  • Change the copy

  • Adjust the design

  • Add forms or interactive features

  • Control who can access it

  • Publish it to a live URL

  • Connect your own domain where available

OpenAI says Sites can be used to create websites, lightweight apps, dashboards, project trackers, prototypes, internal portals, interactive reports and other hosted experiences.

ChatGPT Sites is currently in public beta for Plus, Pro and eligible ChatGPT workspaces. Availability depends on your plan, region and workspace settings. It is not currently available on ChatGPT Free or Go.

Sites usage is included up to the limits attached to your eligible plan during the public beta. These limits may change, so please check what is shown inside your own account.

You can review the latest information in the official ChatGPT Sites guide.

A Real Website Created With ChatGPT Sites

For this tutorial, I asked ChatGPT to create a new personal-brand website for me, Victoria Ludemann.

I already have a website for The AI Marketing Club, so I gave ChatGPT that website as its primary source of information.

However, I did not ask it to copy my existing website.

I asked it to create something completely new that positioned me as an AI marketing trainer, international keynote speaker and AI Search specialist for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

I gave it instructions about:

  • My target audience

  • My brand positioning

  • My keynote speaking experience

  • My AI marketing training

  • My Human First, AI Enabled philosophy

  • My core presentation topics

  • The organisations I have worked with

  • My testimonials

  • My calls to action

  • My preferred colours and visual style

ChatGPT pulled together the relevant information and created the website copy, sections, design and navigation.

You can take a look at the finished ChatGPT Site here.

Please bear in mind that this is a demonstration website. I created it to test what ChatGPT Sites could produce using an existing website and a detailed set of instructions.

Two Ways to Create a Website With ChatGPT Sites

There are two main ways to give ChatGPT the information it needs.

Option 1: Use an Existing Website as a Reference

If you already have a website, you can provide its URL and ask ChatGPT to use it as an information source.

This could be useful if you want to:

  • Test a new personal brand

  • Create an event microsite

  • Create a page for a new tourism product

  • Build a prototype

  • Explore a different website style

  • Create a simplified version of your existing information

Be very clear that you want a new website rather than a direct copy.

Tell ChatGPT which information it should retain, what should change and how the new website should position your business.

Option 2: Provide Your Business Information Directly

If you do not already have a website, you can upload or provide the information yourself.

This could include:

  • Your business name

  • Your logo

  • Your brand colours

  • Your photographs

  • Your location

  • Your contact details

  • Your products or services

  • Your target customers

  • Your unique selling points

  • Your facilities or inclusions

  • Customer testimonials

  • Your social media links

  • Your preferred calls to action

  • Examples of websites or styles you like

Think of it as briefing a real website designer.

You would not simply say, “Please create me a website,” and expect the designer to understand your business, customers, brand and objectives.

ChatGPT also needs clear instructions.

The better the brief, the better the first result is likely to be.

Step-by-Step: How to Create a Website With ChatGPT Sites

Step 1: Start With a Normal ChatGPT Conversation

Before opening Sites, create a new ChatGPT conversation and explain what you want to build.

You can type the information or use voice dictation if you find it easier to talk through your ideas.

Tell ChatGPT:

  • What your business does

  • Who the website is for

  • What you want visitors to do

  • What products or services should be featured

  • Which sections you need

  • What style you prefer

  • Which colours and images it should use

  • What information must be included

  • Whether you need forms, video or interactive features

  • Whether you have an existing website it can reference

Do not worry about creating the perfect brief immediately.

Give ChatGPT all the information you can, and then ask it to help you find the gaps.

Pro Hack

Once you have explained what you want, ask ChatGPT:

“Please review this website brief and tell me what important information is missing. Ask me any questions you need answered before creating the final website prompt.”

ChatGPT may identify missing details such as:

  • Your contact information

  • Your target audience

  • Your main call to action

  • Your testimonials

  • Your brand colours

  • Your business location

  • Your social links

  • Your terms or privacy information

  • The website sections you need

This gives you a much more complete brief before you begin building.

Step 2: Ask ChatGPT to Create Your Final Sites Prompt

Once ChatGPT has gathered the relevant information, ask:

“Please turn all of this information into one complete prompt that I can paste into ChatGPT Sites.”

I would also add:

“Please provide the final prompt in plain text without Markdown formatting.”

This helps prevent asterisks, heading symbols and other unwanted Markdown formatting from appearing when you copy the prompt into Sites.

The prompt should clearly explain:

  • The purpose of the website

  • The intended audience

  • The brand style

  • The required sections

  • The information sources

  • The desired functionality

  • The calls to action

  • Any important exclusions or constraints

Step 3: Open ChatGPT Sites

In ChatGPT, open Work and ask it to create a website.

You can include the word “website” in your prompt or mention @Sites to trigger the website-building workflow.

You may also be able to access your Sites by selecting:

More > Sites

Alternatively, visit chatgpt.com/sites.

If you cannot see Sites, it may not yet be available for your plan, region or workspace.

Step 4: Add Your Prompt and Supporting Information

Paste your completed website prompt into the Sites prompt box.

You can also provide:

  • Your website link

  • Logos

  • Photographs

  • Brand guidelines

  • Documents

  • Testimonials

  • Product information

  • Reports

  • Other relevant files

If you are referencing an existing website, explain exactly what ChatGPT should take from it.

For example:

“Use my existing website as the primary factual source, but do not copy its design or structure. Create a completely new personal-brand website using the positioning, services, experience and testimonials provided.”

Step 5: Generate the First Version

Ask ChatGPT to create the website.

It will begin building the Site and may show which information and sources it is using.

The generation time will vary depending on the size and complexity of the request. A straightforward first version can potentially be produced in minutes, although “under 12 minutes” is not a guaranteed build time for every website.

Once it has finished, ChatGPT will provide a preview for you to review.

Step 6: Carefully Review the Website

Please do not immediately publish the first version without checking it.

Review:

  • Names and contact details

  • Business descriptions

  • Products and services

  • Prices

  • Testimonials

  • Photographs

  • Links

  • Buttons

  • Forms

  • Calls to action

  • Mobile readability

  • Privacy information

  • Access settings

  • Any claims made about your business

ChatGPT may misunderstand information or create wording that sounds convincing but is not factually correct.

You remain responsible for the content you publish.

Step 7: Edit the Website by Talking to ChatGPT

This is one of the best parts.

You do not have to manually edit every element yourself. You can simply tell ChatGPT what you want changed.

For example:

  • “Make the main heading more welcoming.”

  • “Change the background colour to dark green.”

  • “Replace this image with the one I have uploaded.”

  • “Add a section about our family facilities.”

  • “Move the testimonials above the contact section.”

  • “Make the enquiry button more prominent.”

  • “Add a Frequently Asked Questions section.”

  • “Make the design feel more premium.”

  • “Improve how the website displays on mobile.”

ChatGPT will make the changes and provide an updated preview.

You can continue this process until you are happy with the result.

How cool is that?

Step 8: Save, Publish and Share Your Site

A newly created Site begins privately.

Depending on your plan and workspace settings, access options may include:

  • Only you and workspace administrators

  • Selected users or groups

  • Anyone in your workspace

  • Anyone on the internet

When you deploy the Site, ChatGPT creates a live production URL.

OpenAI recommends reviewing and saving a version before deploying it publicly.

Once published, you can copy the URL and share it through:

  • Email

  • Social media

  • Your newsletter

  • A QR code

  • Guest communications

  • Event materials

  • Your existing website

Can You Use Your Own Domain?

Where custom domains are available, you can connect a domain you already own.

ChatGPT Sites does not register or purchase the domain for you. You must own it and have access to the DNS settings provided by your domain company.

You can then add the DNS records supplied by ChatGPT Sites.

Availability may depend on your account and workspace.

Is It a Multi-Page Website?

The website created in this tutorial is one long page rather than a traditional website containing multiple individual pages.

It includes sections for:

  • About

  • Training

  • Keynote speaking

  • Presentation topics

  • Testimonials

  • Contact information

The menu helps visitors move to different sections of the page, but those sections are not separate, individually optimised pages.

This works well for a:

  • Simple business website

  • Personal-brand website

  • Landing page

  • Microsite

  • Event page

  • Prototype

  • Interactive report

However, it is a limitation for tourism and hospitality businesses that need separate pages for:

  • Individual rooms

  • Accommodation types

  • Tours and activities

  • Restaurant menus

  • Wedding services

  • Conferences

  • Destination guides

  • Customer groups

  • Blog articles

  • International markets

Separate pages help businesses provide more detailed information and target specific customer questions and searches.

Practical Ways Tourism and Hospitality Businesses Can Use ChatGPT Sites

1. Create a Simple Website for an Airbnb or Holiday Home

Many Airbnb hosts have a listing but no independent website.

A simple Site could showcase:

  • The property

  • Facilities

  • Accommodation options

  • Local attractions

  • Guest testimonials

  • Contact information

  • Frequently asked questions

It will not automatically become a complete direct-booking system, but it could give prospective guests somewhere to learn more about the property outside Airbnb.

2. Create a Central Guest Information Guide

Accommodation providers often repeat the same guest instructions across Airbnb, Booking.com, emails and printed folders.

You could create one central Site containing:

  • Check-in and check-out instructions

  • Wi-Fi details

  • House rules

  • Heating instructions

  • Parking information

  • Emergency contacts

  • Local restaurants

  • Recommended activities

  • Rubbish and recycling instructions

You could then share one link or place a QR code inside the property.

When information changes, you update one central Site rather than several separate documents.

3. Create a Cleaner or Staff Information Portal

A private Site could include:

  • Cleaning checklists

  • Room-reset instructions

  • Maintenance procedures

  • Linen requirements

  • Stock lists

  • Emergency information

  • Reporting processes

  • Important contacts

This could give cleaners or team members one central place to find the latest information.

4. Create an Event or Workshop Page

If you are launching a workshop, tourism event, local promotion or conference, Sites could help you produce a professional page quickly.

You could include:

  • Event information

  • Speaker details

  • Timetables

  • Venue information

  • Videos

  • Enquiry forms

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Registration links

5. Turn a Report Into an Interactive Website

You can use Sites to turn research or trend information into a more visually engaging online experience.

For example, I used it to display seven tourism signals influencing travel trends in 2026.

Instead of sending people another long document, I could share a link to a visual page through my newsletter or social media.

6. Test a New Tourism Product

Before investing in a full website build, you could create a Site to test:

  • A new tour

  • A seasonal package

  • A regional visitor guide

  • A travel itinerary

  • A conference concept

  • A new accommodation brand

  • A lead-generation idea

This allows you to make the idea visible and gather feedback before investing more heavily.

Important ChatGPT Sites Limitations

ChatGPT Sites is impressive, but it is still the first public-beta version.

There are several important limitations to consider.

SEO, GEO and AIO Optimisation Is Currently Limited

ChatGPT Sites does not currently give business owners the level of technical control required to properly optimise a website for SEO, GEO or AIO.

The necessary controls are not currently available within the Sites interface in the same way they are on a dedicated website platform.

These include control over:

  • Individual optimised pages

  • Page titles

  • Meta descriptions

  • URL structures

  • Schema markup

  • Canonical tags

  • XML sitemaps

  • Redirects

  • Robots directives

  • International subfolders

  • Language targeting

  • Blog architecture

  • Advanced analytics and tracking integrations

This matters when your goal is to be found through:

  • Google Search

  • Google AI Overviews

  • Google AI Mode

  • ChatGPT Search

  • Perplexity

  • Voice search

  • Visual search

This is the earliest public version of Sites, and I am sure further functionality will come. However, those controls are not there yet, so businesses need to make decisions based on what is available now.

I would not replace a properly built and optimised tourism website with a ChatGPT Site at this stage.

However, if your business currently has no website, something is better than nothing.

CRM and Booking Connections Are Not Plug-and-Play

ChatGPT Sites does not currently provide a simple built-in connection to every CRM, email platform or booking system.

A custom connection may be technically possible, depending on:

  • The CRM or booking platform

  • Whether it has an API

  • Your Sites functionality

  • The information being transferred

  • The technical work required

However, this is not the same as choosing your CRM from a list and connecting it automatically.

Forms Need to Be Tested

You can ask ChatGPT Sites to create forms, but you must check:

  • Where submissions are stored

  • Who receives the information

  • Whether an email notification is sent

  • Whether the data reaches your CRM

  • How consent is collected

  • Whether you need a privacy policy

  • Whether the complete process works properly

A form appearing on a website does not automatically mean it is connected to your marketing or booking systems.

Publishing Does Not Automatically Improve ChatGPT Visibility

Creating a website through ChatGPT Sites does not mean ChatGPT will automatically recommend or cite your business.

There is currently no official evidence that a website receives special visibility simply because it was created and hosted through ChatGPT Sites.

Your wider digital authority, useful content, business information, third-party references and technical accessibility still matter.

Victoria’s Take

I think ChatGPT Sites is an impressive development, especially for small businesses that do not have a website or cannot justify the time and expense of a traditional website build.

Being able to turn an idea into a professional-looking website in minutes removes a significant technical barrier.

However, I would not rush to replace a well-performing, properly optimised website with it.

For tourism and hospitality businesses, a website needs to do much more than look attractive.

It may need to support:

  • Direct bookings

  • International audiences

  • AI Search visibility

  • Voice and visual search

  • Customer trust

  • Analytics

  • CRM connections

  • Email marketing

  • Booking and availability systems

  • Multiple customer journeys

ChatGPT Sites does not currently provide all of that out of the box.

My advice is to use it strategically.

Use it to:

  • Establish an initial web presence

  • Test a new idea

  • Create a microsite

  • Publish an event page

  • Share an interactive report

  • Centralise guest information

  • Create an internal resource

  • Prototype a future website

Then, if the idea works, you can decide whether to develop it further using a platform that gives you more control.

This is the first version of ChatGPT Sites. I am sure we will see more functionality added over time, but we need to be honest about what is and is not available now.

For a business with no website, it offers a fast and accessible starting point.

And that is pretty amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ChatGPT Sites?

ChatGPT Sites is a feature that allows eligible users to create, edit, host and share websites and lightweight apps by describing what they want ChatGPT to build.

Do I need coding or design experience?

No. You can use everyday language to describe the website you want. ChatGPT creates the design and code, and you can request changes conversationally.

Is ChatGPT Sites free?

Sites usage is included within eligible ChatGPT plans up to plan-specific public-beta limits. It is not currently available on ChatGPT Free or Go.

How quickly can ChatGPT create a website?

A straightforward first version can potentially be created in minutes. The time will depend on the complexity of the website, the information provided and the number of changes required.

The website demonstrated in this tutorial was created in under 12 minutes, but this is not a guaranteed build time for every Site.

Can ChatGPT Sites use my existing website?

Yes. You can provide an existing website as an information source and ask ChatGPT to use it when creating a new Site.

Be clear about whether you want it to retain your existing wording, create new copy or use the website only as a factual reference.

Can I upload my own images?

Yes. You can provide your own images, logos and other visual assets for ChatGPT to use.

Always check that you have permission to publish the images and that they display correctly on desktop and mobile.

Can I add videos?

Yes. You can include hosted videos, such as YouTube videos, by providing the video link and asking ChatGPT to add it to the Site.

In my testing, using a YouTube link was the simplest approach. Uploading and directly hosting a video file may depend on the storage and file functionality available to your account.

Can ChatGPT Sites connect to my CRM?

There is no simple built-in connection to every CRM at present.

A custom integration may be possible if the CRM has an appropriate API, but this may require additional technical setup.

Always test where form submissions go and whether they are being added to the correct customer record or marketing workflow.

Can I add a form?

Yes. You can ask ChatGPT Sites to create forms such as:

  • Contact forms

  • Enquiry forms

  • Event registration forms

  • Feedback forms

  • Lead-generation forms

However, you need to confirm where the submitted information is stored or sent. A visible form is not automatically connected to your CRM or email marketing platform.

Can I edit my website?

Yes. You can edit a Site by describing the changes you want ChatGPT to make.

You can request changes to:

  • Copy

  • Images

  • Colours

  • Layout

  • Forms

  • Links

  • Buttons

  • Sections

  • Interactive features

  • Mobile presentation

Review each updated version before publishing it.

Can ChatGPT Sites create multiple pages?

The Site created in this tutorial was produced as one long page with menu links taking visitors to different sections.

This works well for a simple website or microsite, but it does not provide the same content structure and optimisation opportunities as a traditional multi-page website.

Can I connect my own domain?

Where custom domains are available, you can connect a domain you already own by adding the DNS information supplied by ChatGPT Sites.

Sites does not register or purchase the domain for you.

Can ChatGPT Sites optimise my website for SEO, GEO and AIO?

Not to the level required for a properly optimised business website.

The advanced technical and page-level controls needed for SEO, GEO and AIO are currently limited or unavailable within the Sites interface.

This functionality may improve as Sites develops, but it is not there yet.

Will my Site automatically appear in ChatGPT Search?

No. Creating a ChatGPT Site does not guarantee that ChatGPT will find, recommend or cite your business.

There is currently no official confirmation that ChatGPT gives Sites special preference in its search results.

Is ChatGPT Sites suitable for tourism and hospitality businesses?

Yes, for specific uses.

It could be valuable for:

  • A simple initial web presence

  • A guest information guide

  • An event page

  • A campaign microsite

  • An internal team resource

  • A tourism report

  • A prototype

  • Testing a new tourism product

If your business depends on direct bookings, detailed search visibility, CRM automation or multiple individual pages, you may still require a more established website and booking platform.

Is ChatGPT Sites worth trying?

Absolutely.

It may not yet replace a fully optimised business website, but it gives people who are not designers or programmers a very fast way to turn an idea or collection of information into a working online experience.

Go away and have a play. You may be surprised by what you can create.
